Toddlers are at a point in their growth where they are steadily growing physically, emotionally, and cognitively. This point is also the time for big milestones: learning to walk and talk. Your child’s growth also brings many changes that might surprise or even overwhelm you. As a trusted Child Care Centre Pasadena Maryland, we share with you a couple of parenting strategies for taking care of your toddler:
- Disciplining.
This is the point when kids are discovering what they like and dislike. When you want them to do or eat something they dislike, there comes the tantrum. The safest thing to do when they throw a tantrum is to wait them out. Stay calm until the tantrum passes because it usually does on its own. After that, show affection to them by talking softly. An important thing to remember: do not give in to what they want as much as you can. Another is to not counter their tantrums with anger or shouting.
- Childproof your home.
Since your child is starting to walk, run, and climb at this stage, it is important to childproof your home to keep them safe. Remove things that might pose danger. Also, install cabinet locks and door stoppers. These childproofing practices are also observed at our daycare center in Pasadena Maryland.
